12 Remarkable Scots
Many people will recall Jerry's name as one of the authors of 'Robert Burns in Edinburgh', a fine, friendly, guide to the great metropolis and the people known to Burns.
This time working on his own he has researched the lives of six men and six women, who provide the basis for his new book, '12 Remarkable Scots'. Jerry's choice of notables includes artists, explorers, life-savers, a nurse, engineer and a footballer to identify just a few.
The blurb on the back of the book states, "Biographies of six men and six women whose lives have touched the history or culture of Scotland". It strikes me that this is an apt description of the book.
Written in Jerry's lucid and approachable style, this paperback book is a pleasure to pick up and read. It has clear references at the close of each chapter with multiple photos and line drawings which enhance the reading experience.
My guess is once picked up it will be difficlut to put down ... as all good books should be.
